Let me start with all the basic information regarding this bird, Ardeotis nigriceps is the scientific name for the bird that is popularly known as Great Indian Bustard.

Well, reason behind this fact is that this bird is only found in India and some regions of Pakistan and all of us know that once upon a time Pakistan was a part of India. Being heavy in weight this bird is also large in height. It has height of approx a meter. This bird is Brown in color with black and white spots. Like all other animals and birds, the Female birds are smaller than the male birds.

Once upon a time Great Indian Bustard was found in Pakistan in huge number but now lack of protection and hunting has made it one of the endangered species.

These birds move throughout its native regions but it is quite difficult to make out where these birds move as there is no specific record for the population of this bird.

Now, let us know about eating and other habits of Great Indian Bustard. These birds are Omnivorous in nature and mostly depend upon insects, grass seeds and berries. Breeding season for these birds is between March to September.

According to a survey of Birdlife International on 2011 this bird now comes under critically endangered species. Before the survey of 2011 this bird was under the list of endangered species as 90% species of this bird was less than 250 in numbers.

Like all the endangered species in this world many precautions are been taken for this bird also but it is our responsibility to look after that the policies made for preserving these endangered species is working properly.

We should make sure that our upcoming generation can get the privilege to see all those species that we have seen.
