Panda Bear Facts and Information

Panda bear or you can say giant panda are identified with the black patches on their eyes, ears and its body. Panda Bear belongs to Carnivora and prey on bamboos mostly. But occasionally they eat grasses, wild tubers and meats also. Usually, Panda bears eat meat in form of rodents, birds and carrion. Panda Bear is mostly found in Sichuan, Gansu and Shaanxi province. According to a survey report of 2007 it is found that 239 Panda Bears are present in China and 27 are present outside the country.

Let’s take a glance of physical facts of Panda bear. This animal is approx 1.2 to 1.8 m in length (4-6 ft), which includes its 13 cm (5.1 inch) long tail. In terms of height Panda Bears are 2.0 to 3.0 ft (60-90 cm) tall at their shoulder. The male Panda bears are found 10-20% bigger than the females. Average weight of this animal is around 100-115 kg but the weigh can increase up to 125 kg that is 276 lb.

As we all know Panda bear is one of the cutest looking animals which has body shape of a bear and black fur on their eyes, ears and round the body make it different from a typical bear. If you ask me about the behavior of this animal I would say that this animal is not a dangerous one for humans and spends its life by roaming in the bamboo forest and eating it. Panda bears are found least interested in reproduction or you can say mating. For this problem researchers have used many tricks and now it is found that the Panda Bears are having reproduction due to the tricks used by researchers.

Western Han Dynasty in China, London Zoo and Memphis Zoo in Memphis, Tennessee, are the zoos in the world where these Panda Bears were kept but from 2013 there is no Panda Bear available in any zoo. It’s good to know that this animal is now able to live its life outside the cage of zoos. This is because of some revolutions for which an article of New York Times (2006) and writer Sima Xiangru should be given the credit.

Chinese people killed or hunt panda bear for protection against evil spirits which is the measure cause in declining population but now Chinese government has taken the strict action against them.

Now there are only 980 panda bear left in wild.

Over 280 species of carnivora, giant panda has larger molar teeth than any other which help them to crush strong stem of bamboo.

According to IUCN this species is come under the list of endangered animal category.
Panda can eat 20 kg of bamboo in a day. 

In summer season panda can climb up to 4000 meters to feed on higher slopes.
