Bengal tiger
Vs Sumatran tiger, Tigers are the largest members of the cat family and are
famous for their power and strength. There are 8 sub species of tiger but of
these 3 of them became extinct during the 20th century. Over the last few
years, the population of tigers has decreased. People hunt tigers for their
body parts and are used in traditional Chinese medicine. The other five tigers
are endangered and several protection programs are in place.
Bengal tiger
which is scientifically known as Panthera tigris tigris. They are generally
found in India are often termed as Indian tigers. These tigers love to live
alone and they aggressively scent mark large territories to keep their rivals
away from them. They are very powerful nocturnal hunters and are carnivores.
They lie in wait and attack their prey with a quick spring and a fatal pounce.
A hungry
Bengal tiger can eat as much as 27 kg in a day but they usually eat less as per
estimated. This beautiful animal Bengal tiger is a national animal of
Bangladesh and is considered to Bethe second largest tiger in the world. These
tigers are found in dense forest and in jungles of India, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh.
The Bengal
tiger has a yellow coat with black or dark brown stripes and white belly.
Bengal tigers usually hunt for both large and small mammals like deer, cattle,
goats, etc. After a gestation period of 3 to 4 months, the Bengal tigress can gives
birth up to 3 to 5 cubs. The baby Bengal tiger are fed with their mother's milk
for two months and then they are introduced to meat. Now days due to habitat
loss, hunting by human beings and deforestation, as per the record and status
given by IUCN, the Royal Bengal tigers are considered to be in endangered
status.
Sumatran
tiger scientifically known as Panthera tigris sumatrae is the smallest sub
species of tiger in the world. Sumatran tiger are now days critically
endangered. The Sumatran tigers are natively found only on Indonesian island of
Sumatra inhibiting in mountain jungles, swamp forests.
The Sumatra
tiger is a bit different in its appearance to other species of tiger. Their
stripes are slightly narrower than other tigers and they have larger manes.
They have slightly webbed paws which allow them to swim more efficiently after
their prey. These tigers are dominant and hunt its prey by stalking it until it
has an opportunity to catch it off guard. They usually hunt for larger mammals.
After the gestation
period of three to four months, the female Sumatran tiger gives birth to 5
cubs. The new born Sumatran tigers are blind and depend upon its mother for 18
months and then afterwards start hunting on their own. Now days due to habitat
loss, hunting by human beings, poaching, the Sumatran tiger is considered to be
critically endangered species. Deforestation, habitat loss, poaching etc. are
the reason why the number of Sumatran tigers has reduced.

Sumatran tiger weighs up to 100 to 140 kg and female ones weighs up to 75 to
110 kg. Whereas, male Bengal tiger weighs up to 180-250 kg and female Bengal
tigers weighs up to 100-160 kg. This comparison gives us a conclusion that
Bengal tigers are far stronger than the Sumatran tigers. Bengal tigers are more
violent in comparison to Sumatran tiger. Bengal tiger silently looks for its
prey and pounces upon it as soon as it comes closer, whereas, Sumatran tiger
hunts for its prey by stalking it. Bengal tigers are highly aggressive and when
it is hungry, they may even attack humans and become man-eaters. In a fight
between Sumatran tiger and Bengal tiger, Bengal tiger would win the fight as it
is most stealthy, powerful, and aggressive than the Sumatran tiger.
